Norwich-State-Hospital
The hospital first opened its doors in 1904 in Norwich, Connecticut. It was built in an idyllic location chosen for its therapeutic properties overlooking the River Thames.
The Norwich Insane Asylum was built isolated from civilization, which worked to its benefit as it began to grow during its early years sprouting new buildings that accompanied the original construction (see aerial view of the hospital here). These new construction projects included patient wards, staff cottages, laboratories and workshops. All of the structures were interconnected by a large network of underground utility tunnels. These tunnels transported electricity, hot water, and patients to various areas on the grounds. The hospital remained self-sufficient, almost like a small town, with its own power plant, pump house, working farm, kitchen, theater and church.
Over 3,000 patients and 1,000 employees were residents on the asylum grounds in the 1950’s.
Slowly patients began to leave Norwich State Hospital due to deinstitutionalization and it permanently closed its doors in 1996. Since then time has basically stood still on the property with a few exceptions. Currently there is talk about converting the grounds into a theme park, but nothing has been set in stone.
After a long tedious drive we leave the car in a commuter parking lot close to the buildings. Ever the vigilant group of explorers we notice a State Trooper making his rounds and dive into the forest for cover. Luckily we outsmarted the police yet again and after regrouping walk along the Thames River for a few hundred feet. We finally see the abandoned pump house looming in the distance and decide to make this our entryway into the campus.
This site has a reputation for being well guarded, well patrolled, and does not take kindly to trespassers. I am always on edge when exploring across the Atlantic and the numerous “State Property – No Trespassing” signs that litter the grounds did not bode well for my paranoia. Instead of exposing ourselves above ground to security and prying eyes, we decided to take the underground route through the utility tunnels.
Using the tunnels we explored many buildings without ever being forced to go outside. This method of travel was soon confirmed to be the safest. On our first attempt to venture outside we were only a few feet away from a security officer in a black uniform. Fortunately he didn’t look our way and we quickly receded back into the tunnel network. For a while we hid in the abandoned theater so we could look around the campus without being seen.
This encounter with security dampened our spirits and made our visit a whole lot shorter than we would have liked. We made our grande exit through the empty chapel, this allowed us to avoid walking back through the forest. As we were walking back to the commuter lot to pickup our car we noticed the State Trooper had been watching us as we suspiciously walked down the road. I wonder where we went to and were coming back from?!

What's your email address? I'll email you if you want.
sorry..didn't realize that was directed to JPT. disregard.
..legal!? i gotta hear this one..send me info!? please
I have a legit place to investigate if you are interested... (Completely legal and tons of stories about it)
So, you read some articals/stories that the author said was true. And how do you know they were true, and not embellished, or outright lies? Unless you were there and witnessed or experienced it yourself, you can not be sure it is true. Even then, I would submit in 99% of the cases, a mundane series of events could re-create the "paranormal" event.
Untill I see for myself an occurance or event that I cannot explain away under normal means, I remain skeptical. If a ghost were to appear right in front of me, shake hands and sit down and tell me about his life 200 years ago, I would most likely change my mind. Orbs, shadows, cold spots, evps, I dont have much faith in. The mind will bend the truth to see what its owner wants to see (or hear, or smell, etc).
But, as always, I would remain open to taking some time to investigate some of these "hauntings", and see if I can be proved wrong.
I have yet to see the documentary..I was just interested if anyone in that area has seen it.. I too am getting all sorts of errors from the site..hence my double posting and what not today..haha..maybe it's all the demonic talk.
Is anyone else getting a bunch of crap when they post something?
I want to. Is it any good?
Brewster's neck? anyone ever seen it?
And as for the demon situation in your pants..brick tosser.. I hear Ryan Buell wants to be your friend on Facebook.
Alright..this is a subject I find interesting. From a skeptic's point of view. ..I don't believe in a lot of this paranormal stuff..however. I can't argue the fact of demons and demonology. I have read up on a lot of the Warrens demonic cases..and was slightly blown away. I mean..if it weren't real..then they made a pretty elaborate hoax in order to make there career. I was told that when they do the museum tours..they show a video of an actual exorcism they had done..and there was a story floating around of the "Raggedy Ann doll" ..a guy and his girlfriend went to the museum and he taunted the doll..later that night turns up dead..pretty freaky. Also..the pure fact of people getting physically attacked is just plain and simple--freaky..
Theres a demonic situation in my pants.
Demonic hauntings are rare. Plus there are ways to tell the difference. (For example, the smell of sulfur is often found in demonic hauntings) Plus there is usually a lot more physical things going on when there is a demonic presence.
Wishfull thinking.
Without wanting to sound too preachy, the only "weapon" you need against any demon would be the sheild of faith in God. Anything created by man would fail against the forces of Lucifer, who is second only to God.
Do I believe in God, Jesus and the human Spirit- yes. Lucifer and demons/devils? -yes . In ghosts haunting buildings- no. A dichotomy? Certainly. Arguable? Sure, I'll argue anything.
jpt- true but what if the situation is different with us like they are trying to do some reverse psycology or something. i would totally do both, i find a way where i could live in the real world and also be jacked into the matrix whenever i wanted to. heres what i would add to the list that you guys are coming up with: something to battle different spirits and demons that try to attack you while walking through there. some of you may be skeptical but this can only happen if you are aware and sensitive to things that are not of human or things after human. me and a co-creater are coming up with an entire line of weapons specifically designed for these types of jobs.
You know I wrote this whole thing about me taking a trip down the rabbit hole... I would totally love wonderland. (Only Dinah would have come with me!)
If indeed we WERE in a Matrix type environment, the computer would nevre allow us to see a movie such as the Matrix.
I wouldnt go down the rabbit hole anyway. I'd live the fantasy. More fun.
i am very boared too. i wish i was off-roading in my truck right now. and im hungry. ok hmmm something interesting this outta be easy. ever seen the matrix? i beleive the idea is real, i beleive we are all in some sort of matrix. go watch the movie and try to compare it to real life, also compare the characteristics of the matrix movies and things we see everyday.
Someone post something interesting I can respond to. I'm sooo bored at work today. (I've seriously done nothing but bs with another girl at work) Save me from dying of boredom!
the filter I was talking about was for a flashlight, not a camera, but thanks for the info!
Have to throw my $ .02 for the shopping list-
boots: bates stealths/ ultralights, they are one of the current mil/Le options-composite toe, they're lighter than some cross trainers and comfy all day long and about 100$. The steel/comp toe boots are an Awesome defense if needed FYI.
Light- the led energizer headlamps with the red, spot and flood settings- batteries last a few explores. Also the led maglights-the 3 AA blackjack style is brighter than my old 6D and batteries last 3 times longer!
These are tried and true, you'll be very happy with these. If I think of anything else I'll throw em' up too.
hey you is this bomb dude anywhy
what does that have to do with anything damn
bomb- in CT
"Shoes" will definitely lower your IQ but it's still funny. It's one that makes me laugh when all I want to do is cry. Now if you really want to lower your IQ you should check out Charlie the Unicorn. I felt brain dead after watching to first video.
Has anyone explored NSH and needed to use mace???? Or a knife??? Has anyone ran into any pipe robbers or crackheads there???
I watched that "Shoes" video below and I believe my IQ went down by 10 points.....
As for filters, download Adobe CS4 and convert the image to Black & White; there are preloaded filters which take care of any low grade glass you want to put in front of your camera lens. Post production will eliminate messing around with primative filters. Also, you could make an additional 50% grey layer and do some Dodging and Burning with the image, then just flaten the layers....
There's your PhotoShop class for the day, kiddies!!!
were is this place
