Welcome to the Hudson River State Hospital located in the United States in Poughkeepsie, New York. This gigantic hospital has overlooked the Hudson River for 136 years since its initial construction in 1871. The various hospital buildings were constructed and belong to the famous Kirkbride architectural order (read more on this excellent website).
The hospital was divided into two wings, for male and female patients, with an administration section located in the center. The male wing was much larger than the respective female wing. This was caused by the number of patients being unequal between the sexes (see the sky view from the hospital using the link above).
The beauty of the decay was unbelievable in this hospital. Most of the original constructions had been preserved.
Future renovation construction of the hospital were planned long ago. A fire, caused by lightning, burned the male wing in June 2007. As of the date of this article, the fate of Hudson Psyche Center remains unknown.
Hopefully this awesome Kirkbride will be saved. The United States is certainly not Europe and listing historical buildings as monuments might not be enough to protect them…

hey fucks alot ,so u call yourself. how do u know that cops are up their either your a cop or u have been busted up their.i know several people that have been up their lately and havent ran into any cops.do you really think with todays economy someone has the money to pay security to sit and watch for kids coming onto the property to check out some run down old buildings, the place is so big it is pretty hard to stop people from getting on the property . besides that, do you really think the town police are going to waste tax payers money having a cop on duty every night when there are more important things they can be doing.anyway i sure hope that is not the case because it is an interesting place to go and explore through out all the buildings and grounds. Well thx anyway for the info.
Ryan don't go. The Police now site on the property with their lights off at night. If you get spotted, you will be arrested and your cameras will be taken away from you and put into evidence. Consider yourself warned.
Hey i just moved here to poughkeepsie about 3 weeks ago and i found out about this place an actually went there today not knowing much about it just that about 5 mins after being in there my friend opened this one door and we started walking away from it and we heard something so we turned around and the door shut so we started to run the same way of the door that shut and it opened as we were running passed it. Do you people not get it that the property owners and cops are watching this? I'm not trying to come off as some all-knowing and wise douchebag, but it's common fucking sense. By posting information like entrances and when you're gonna go, you may very well be fucking up someone else's trip. Think before you type for fuck's sake.
the tunnel entrance if you come in from home depot walk the road between cheney building & ryon hall and there will be a walk way on your left which runs along the side of cheney building (tall building) walk in about 30 feet or so & on the right about 10 or so feet before b-ball court the entrance to the tunnel is their. it is sort of like a man hole cover which has a ladder in it and just climb down in . just be careful if going at night because if it is open u could fall right in to it . good luck be safe .PIECE

I went last night with a group of 4, 2 of them got scared within five minutes and went back to the car, couldn't get into the rec room b/c the entrance was flooded, we just ended up walking the grounds since we couldn't leave the other 2 outside..... Does anyone know which building has a definite tunnel entrance?

i dont know the # of the morgue but it was up in back behind the kirkbride building. besides the body coolers it also looked like it was also a lab of some sort.have you been in the tunnels , cheney building or ryon hall yet ,im sure there must be a morgue in ryon or cheney building which i havent found yet. there are some strange things that go on up their at night that me or my wife couldnt explain, on the grounds and in ryon hall. i dont know if you believe in the paranormal but there are some weird goings on up their that definately spooked me. well let me know when you want to go up i would be down with going back again, it is a great place to check out with alot of strange history.

Finally went again last niite,got into 7 different buildings with no problems!! no cops,no sketchy crack heads and learned our way around tha whole property. found a room with all the blueprints and maps &also got into the bowling alley and pool.i got a group of people going on saturday anyone else wanna meet up get a bigg group,hit me up!!

My friends and I are dying to go and my friend and I went to find it and as we were getting closer (11pm) we didn't feel it was safe for just the two of us. My dad lives down the road from this place and when I was over for a visit a few years ago it smelt like burning tires really bad and we saw on the news the next day that the Hospital caught on fire. Strange night. I hear there's halfway houses on the grounds and people still roam about. My dad says he met one of them when walking around. They live in the Warya's house.
so me and all 2 of my friends went there the other day and on our way in about 3 or 4 ghosts respawned and we had to use our authentic ghost busters vaccuum on them we were then able to continue about halfway through we brought some heroine off this crack head we ran into he was about to go start a gang war or something iwas too messed up too hear what he said and then we continued and saw military operations going on there and we were like woah thats insane then we went further in and the saw the pipe robber taking all of there pipes his mustache was really big we tried to stop him but when we got closer we smelled asbestos and thought it would be best to leave if anyone has any extra gas masks plzzz email me i would like to get at least 10 people together so we have safe numbers to go against the pipe robber. i happen to be a certified asbestos detector so im confident i can get us passed all the asbestos. i have extra guilly suites so we should be impossible to see however we may need extra putty so we can putty up some of the holes whle were there to avoid falling through plzz be warned this is a dangerous mission and im 100% serious plzz email me at commander_asbestos@yahoo.com if ur interested just make sure u bring extra lube in case we get anally raped by either the asbestos monster or the pipe fitter. lets do this team go big or go home stay frosty mates!!
